Comprehension Self-assessment

The purpose of this self-assessment is to help you feel confident about joining our community.

We have found that beginners in Spanish can be somewhat overwhelmed when trying to participate in ¡Charlemos! and we don’t want anyone to lose their confidence by joining us before they are ready!

Working through the self-assessment will give you a sense of whether your Spanish comprehension is at a level similar to what most of us have at ¡Charlemos! If that’s the case, you should be able to participate without too much trouble.

There are two short videos (less than 2 minutes each), and each one has four questions. You can watch the videos as many times as you like before answering — there’s no pressure!

If you find the Spanish a tad difficult to follow right now, you have two choices:
1. delay joining us for a while and keep working on your vocabulary and/or listening comprehension, or
2. come to a session but simply to observe, rather than fully participate, to start with. This will better enable you to decide if you feel ready to practice using the ¡Charlemos! format (ie, without teaching!)
Once you complete the self-assessment these two options  will be put to you  again. How you procede is totally your choice!

If you manage to understand the videos without much trouble, we recommend you join up and participate fully, right from the start.
